Only Beautifully Written began in a kitchen with two best friends, a box of cream cardstock, and a calligraphy pen.
We were tired of sending e-cards that felt impersonal and forgetting birthdays stored somewhere inside a phone. More than that, we missed the warmth of genuine human connection. In a world that seemed to be moving faster and becoming increasingly digital, we found ourselves longing for something slower, more thoughtful, and more meaningful.
The first hundred cards went out for free. We wanted to test a simple idea, if sending a handwritten note was easy, and someone you trusted could beautifully write it for you, would people actually send one?
The answer was a resounding yes.
People sent notes to celebrate milestones, offer encouragement, express gratitude, and reconnect with loved ones. What started as a small experiment quickly became something much bigger.
Today, every card is still written with the same care and attention that inspired us from the beginning. Our cards leave from a small workshop just a few blocks from where it all started. Beauty, our head calligrapher, has been with us since day one, helping ensure every note feels personal, thoughtful, and genuine.
We are not trying to become the biggest company in the world. We simply want to help people stay connected in a more meaningful way and continue doing this for many years to come.
